Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori is calling for applications to the Mā te Reo fund.
Mā te Reo is a $3.2 million contestable fund administered by Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori to support whānau, hapū, iwi and Māori community organisations to develop and implement community initiatives which contribute to te reo Māori revitalisation
The range of activities that have been funded through Mā te Reo includes running Māori language courses, producing Māori language resources, developing Māori whānau, hapū, community language plans and strategies; and supporting locally based language events.
Iwi, hapū, marae, whānau, and Māori and community organisations can apply for Mā te Reo funding.
“This fund is about local ideas and local solutions so there is support for te reo revitalisation efforts in the regions that increase speaker numbers, proficiency levels and raise awareness about the language.
“Whether it is holding wānanga whaikōrero, karanga or a special te reo-focused event, the fund criteria is flexible enough to accommodate most initiatives.”
Applications for the fund open today and close on July 31.
2016/17 will be the final Mā te Reo round Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori will administer before the funding is transferred to Te Mātāwai.
