Just two weeks are left for nominations to the prestige Māori language event of the year: the 2017 Māori Language Awards.
The Awards will be held in Wellington at a gala dinner on 24 November. Categories include Individual, Arts/Entertainment, Education, Business, Broadcasting/Media, Government and Youth. There are also Supreme and Lifetime Achievement Awards.
Judging will be based on the way in which nominees have contributed to revitalisation of te reo Māori.
The Maori Language Commission Chief Executive Ngahiwi Apanui says Māori Language Week has shown the breadth and depth of support for te reo Māori from people of all backgrounds.
“Our Māori Language Champions should be celebrated. Kaua e whakamā – don’t hesitate! If you know of someone or an organisation that deserves recognition, nominate now on our website(external link)”.
