Interpreters and Translators Certification

The Māori Language Commission has statutory responsibility for the examining and granting of certificates of competency in translation and interpreting.

Toi Reo Māori is the official Māori Interpreters and Translators Licence. Under Section 15 of the Māori Language Act 1987, Te Taura Whiri is able to award this qualification to those who pass the written and oral examinations.

Te Taura Whiri can refer you to experienced, qualified Māori language translators.
