Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2008

Māori Language Week will be celebrated this year from 21 - 27  Hōngongoi.

Originally the week occurred around the time of Māori Language Day (September 14) but it was later moved to its current time in order to fit in better with the school year.

Now it provides a time for special events to celebrate and promote the Māori language and more recently awards have been given to groups that make a particularly noteworthy contribution at this time.

Each year the week has a special theme. The theme for Te Wiki o te Reo Māori - Māori Language Week 2008 is Te Reo i te Kāinga - Māori Language in the Home.
