Tiwhikete Kaiwhakamāori ā-tuhi,ā-waha  

The Māori Language Commission has statutory responsibility for the examining and granting of certificates of competency in translation and interpreting.

Toi Reo Māori is the official Māori Interpreters and Translators Licence. Under Section 15 of the Māori Language Act 1987, Te Taura Whiri is able to award this qualification to those who pass the written and oral examinations.

Three training sessions and examinations will be held during 2004.

Training Sessions will be:
6 March 2004
13 March 2004
20 March 2004

Examinations will be held on the:
3 April 2004 - Written Examination
4 April 2004 - Oral Examination

Fees
The fee for the training sessions and examination will be $200.00 gst inclusive.

If the Māori language is your first language or if you are a very fluent speaker of Māori and have highly developed English language skills you are eligible to apply.
