What is the Māori Language Commission?
The Māori Language Commission was set up under the Māori Language Act 1987 to promote the use of Māori as a living language and as an ordinary means of communication. As an autonomous Crown entity, we are bound by the provisions of legislation such as the Crown Entities Act, Public Finance Act and State Sector Act, and we are required to report to Parliament through our Annual Report.
